CLASS INFO & FAQS

Pregnancy yoga

PRE & POSTNATAL PILATES FUSION

These classes combine Pilates and Yoga moves to safely work on core strength, retaining good posture and training the pelvic floor muscles.

When can I attend?

Classes are suitable from 12 weeks pregnant or 6 weeks postnatal. Please ensure you have discussed any new exercise classes with your Midwife before joining. No previous experience in Yoga or Pilates is needed to join this class. I always work with the group to ensure everyone is working at the right pace and provide lots of different options so everyone can feel it works for them.

Why should I attend?

Throughout my pregnancy I really enjoyed having time away from work and home life to focus on me and my growing baby. During this time we are experiencing a number of physical and emotional changes so having this time to listen to our bodies and enjoy a peaceful relaxation at the end of each class is so beneficial to both mum and baby.

Being with other local expectant and postnatal mums you can safely exercise in a fun and supportive environment whether this is your first or fourth baby!

What does the class include?

Classes will integrate Yoga and Pilates poses to strengthen, stretch, release and relax the body during this time where we face a number of physical changes. Focus in particular will be on core and pelvic floor strength and poses to release tight shoulders and backs. We will also include positions to help with hip mobility and optimal foetal positioning.

What should I wear and bring with me?

Please wear suitable comfortable clothes for exercise. For hygiene purposes I would recommend bringing your own yoga mat to use each week. You may also wish to bring a bottle of water and a jumper for the relaxation.

How can I book?

Courses run during term time only and course lengths may vary. Courses usually run in 5 week blocks. A 5 week block is £50. Please contact me to book onto the next course.

Mums practicing Yoga with babies

MUMMY & BABY PILATES FUSION

The Mummy & Baby class is here to provide you with a supportive friendly environment for you and your baby to exercise together. This class is open to all mums and babies from six weeks postnatal up until baby starts to crawl. Please ensure you have been signed off by your Doctor/Midwife to exercise before joining the class.

What are the benefits?

The class is aimed at giving you a chance to get back into fitness gently but effectively after pregnancy. By having your baby join you on the mat this gives you time to bond with your baby whilst also meeting fellow mums going through this wonderful but often emotional time!

Why should I attend?

Being a mum often means we struggle to find time for ourselves and with that exercise often goes to the bottom of the to-do list however when you feel ready to return to exercise this is the perfect class to get you feeling stronger and fitter again. As a mum myself I went to mum and baby yoga classes with my baby. I loved having a chance to get back on the mat and practise moving again but also meet other mums going through similar experiences.

No previous experience in Yoga or Pilates is needed to join this class. I always work with the group to ensure everyone is working at the right pace for them. If you are suffering with Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) or pelvic floor dysfunction this class can really help with rehabilitation.

What does the class include?

Classes integrate Yoga and Pilates moves to strengthen, stretch, release and relax the body. Working in particular on rebuilding core and pelvic floor strength and relaxing tight shoulder and back muscles. All the rocking, holding, changing and pram pushing can leave our shoulders and necks very tight!

Please don’t worry if your baby cries or wants to be held and walked around. You can feed your baby, change their nappy or let them have a nap at any point. We are all in this together!

What should I wear and bring with me?

Please wear suitable comfortable clothes for exercise. For hygiene purposes I would recommend bringing your own yoga mat to use each week. Please bring a blanket for your baby to lie on and anything you need to change or feed your baby. I would also bring a bottle of water.
